Yoo-fi? Yoo-ef-ee?
They shoulda made it easier to pronounce if they wanted people to call it that
You Eee Eff Eye
This one
ÜFI
Same with SSL instead of TLS for some reason
I like UEFI because of the way it sounds. I bet most non-native English speakers agree on it’s pronunciation.
Uwee feee
Lately I’ve been bending people’s names in cursive writing style out of coathanger wire.
The last name I made, I did not post. Why? I have no clue how to pronounce it…
Ogbuefi
Nah. For me that was the “version” of bios in which I could finally use my mouse to select stuff
Ooeefee
Ooh fee
“Weffy”
You-Fee
wee fye
Oo-Eh-Fee or in normal notation: all vowels are pronounced the normal Italian way U-E-FI
I think BIOS has just morphed into meaning the firmware interface, nobody calls it UEFI. Everyone does indeed just say BIOS, which is okay. You can be more specific when it matters, which is basically never in the mass market.
Yeah, I mean. It’s just a Basic Input/Output System.
Actually, in the Boot Services stage, UEFI can do a lot of things, like providing file systems (though only FAT32 is guaranteed), keyboard and mouse input, video output …
Like asking for a bandaid. Everyone knows what you mean, and asking for one and getting a generic bandage isn’t going to matter.
ADHESIVE MEDICAL STRIP
In America. Bandaid is not a word outside there, what is it? A brand name?
Yet it’s named in such a way, people maybe would be able to guess what it is
Yet if you guessed bandage, that’s not an actual bandage is it? From the other comments, I’ve learned it’s a ‘plaster’ or adhesive dressing.
I think, I saw it in some movie or heard about it already, so I am not representative of this. If you guessed a different thing, I was wrong and it can’t be inferred, as in the same way a seller may guess wrong
Yes, a name brand of adhesive bandage, just like Kleenex or Velcro or Xerox.
A “plaster” in the uk
You’re 100% correct.
But I’m gonna keep calling it BIOS anyway.
It does seem to serve the same purpose, an “OS” under the OS so 🤷
I don’t think the OS is the same in BIOS. It is “Basic Input Output System”
Common misconception, it actually stands for Basic Initial Operating System /s
Seems like it should be BI/OS, then, haha.
Something something bi erasure
Which operates the system
