For a complete stranger, you seem to think you’ve got me all figured out. While we’re throwing accusations around, you come across as really defensive and needlessly confrontational.
Velma will post “Nobody cares what makes your dick hard.” and “I’m lying in bed thinking about women” in the same thread. You’re not the problem right now.
Edit: Sorry, it was “Can confirm, I am also thinking about the waitress with big tits while laying in bed.”
Yeah, the first comment I’m responding to someone comparing women’s tits to cow’s milk glands. Literally dehumanizing women with large breasts.
The second comment is my own personal thoughts on appreciating that fictional woman in the meme. It’s not comparing her to anything or saying that she would be more attractive if she did XYZ or that I like her better a certain way.
You can’t comprehend the difference between the two?
Part of the premise of the original post is about what is more attractive to men, and expressing a preference against makeup is a logically valid way to contradict its argument (while also being a faux pas that context does not defend against). The whole thing is obvious bait and you’re both falling for it.
People like you do more harm than good for the cause you’re fighting for. You are a living caricature of what actual incels use to justify their rotten worldview.
Just commenting because I recently told her about the same - this was not a single blunder, this is how she is.
But once you recognize the username, you also realize there’s the wisdom/balance missing that people usually get when becoming adults. She might be 80 for all I know, but I haven’t seen a single comment that wouldn’t fit for a teenager.
Lol, I’m not disavowing feminism. Your comments won’t change the mind of anyone who already had an egalitarian mindset - but in aggregate lots of comments like yours push away people on the fence, and entrench those who are already in a bad place.
If a woman made an equivalent comment about the before and after shots of a guy getting in shape or something it would rightfully not draw any ire. Jumping down the throat of every guy who expresses their preferences about women is not going to win us any allies.
Who said anything about changing anyone’s minds? She’s merely pointing out that blunderworld’s comment is still objectifying women. The up/downvote ratio says a lot about the Lemmy crowd that they should be ashamed of.
If a woman had made an identical comment about a dude posting with/without makeup photos it wouldn’t have drawn any ire.
It wasn’t objectification. He never insinuated that her looks were all that mattered, or that she wasn’t a unique snowflake of a person - he simply mentioned his own preference about makeup.
I don’t have an inherent responsibility to be the nicest, most kind woman ever in order to get people to understand and support feminism and women’s rights. I’m a person on the internet with strong opinions. That’s it.
If you want to believe that a single feminist killjoy on the internet is solely responsible for winning allies in the fight for women’s rights, that’s on you. I’m just pissed off at the audacity of people commenting on women as if they’re objects to be dolled up (or not) to look nice for men.
Believe it or not, women are allowed to be angry. And I don’t care what y’all think.
No, you don’t have any responsibility per se, but you should know your comments come off more misandrist than feminist, and actively harm the cause. You are the embodiment of the shrieking feminazi strawman that incels joke about - and I’m not convinced you aren’t a larping incel trying to push their conspiracy that feminism = man-hating.
If you took one look at my post history, you’d know I’m not a larping incel. I don’t push that feminism = man hating.
I’m allowed my opinions same as any other anonymous person on the internet. Again, if my comments are enough to put someone off of feminism, they were never supportive of women’s rights to begin with.
This argument is stupid either way of course… But I find the picture on the right way more attractive.
Agreed in a 100 % non-objectifying way (as you are as well). Velma can go kick rocks.
“Don’t worry, ladies! This incel finds you ugly, but I find you attractive!”
I’m just expressing my opinion, but okay, sure.
You’re expressing your opinion just like Jeremy is in the post.
For a complete stranger, you seem to think you’ve got me all figured out. While we’re throwing accusations around, you come across as really defensive and needlessly confrontational.
I’m responding to you doing the exact same thing as the man in the post.
Am I though?

Women aren’t allowed to make jokes now?
Stripping context from statements is real useful in twisting them to whatever you want them to mean.

You are. Jeremy is objectifying this woman and so are you. It’s not about what is more attractive to men.

Not really, since the entire point is that “Jeremy” calls it SA
Did you just compare recognition of beauty to fucking rape? Do you have any clue how unhinged you sound?
Did Jeremy rape that woman? No? Then I didn’t compare it to rape.
People like you do more harm than good for the cause you’re fighting for. You are a living caricature of what actual incels use to justify their rotten worldview.
She imitates the TV show with the same name.

He mentioned his own preference about the woman pictured in the meme.
It should draw ire.
