So why didn’t they do it till now?
Oh yes, the war with Iran is probably the immediate cause.
So they are trying to get it through fear. The US hopes to stoke fear to move the SK government to the right (similar to Japan).
I don’t think this is realistic at this point. Compared to Japan, South Korea is a lot more economically dependent on China. Forcing them to choose a side could very likely result in them aligning with China (or becoming neutral).
North Korea has the nukes, and any US surface ships within missile range have been sitting ducks for years. Trump is just the only one who can pass off a retreat as a victory.
Leftism is certainly inherently anti-monarchical
These words mean five different things to four different people, but I’ll bite. Was the Meiji restoration ‘left’ or ‘right’?
I think the simpler explanation is that NK has nukes, so any US surface ships in the vicinity are just missile bait in a war. Trump can get away with doing things normal politicians can’t, so his advisors told him how ‘respectful’ Kim was being and got him to move the ships to a place where they might still have some utility.
One has nukes, the other does not. Trump, whatever his faults, understands what that means.

Usually you start off with A-B-C-D and then add S when something much better than A comes around. For example, if these are academic grades, A-D might be given based on how many questions the student got correct, while S might be reserved for a perfect score, or for finding a better solution than the one the teacher had, etc.
Literally Mao-s

its more economical to write them off as a loss for taxes than renovate
There’s a simple solution for that. If a house sits empty for more than six months, it becomes the property of the city. Maybe add a provision that lets the owners surrender unoccupied houses willingly in return for a small flat compensation. Problem solved.
