When your representatives don’t represent you, shift the focus to who they are representing. Get loud and don’t stop. Overflow the room for every public meeting of any kind. Dominate all public comment. These folks aren’t your neighbors, they are neighbors to the municipal consultants the city pays to draw the master plan. Clear cut your trees, zone for data centers, build surveillance infrastructure, close your public schools, install unnecessary roundabouts and raise your utility costs.
I’m with you on everything except roundabouts. For moderate traffic intersections, they are more efficient than stoplights and stop signs. Opposition to them seems largely confined to those who regard wide arcs and looking left for other traffic as unreasonable demands against their intellect.
Roundabouts are also better for the environment because they reduce fuel usage, and are better for people because they reduce accidents by a non insignificant amount! The only reason to stick with stop lamps is ignorance / space restraints, as I believe the main draw back to rotary intersections is they require a bit more real estate. The only way these flock cameras are coming down legally is if people use the cameras against their local council.
