How It’s Made
I read to sleep.
Nothing. By separating sleep time and TV time, I’m less likely to fall asleep before I’m ready, and I fall asleep much faster when it’s bedtime.
Right now I prefer reading, but for a while it was Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Not a show but a movie, And I use it to take afternoon naps.
U571. I really like the movie.
There is a scene right in the beginning of the movie where Matthew McConaughey greets a family at a wedding/ball I generally fall asleep right there and wake up 45 minutes later with the first torpedo attack.
It’s wild. It’s almost like a Timer, I used to take a nap.
Futurama
Futurama for me originally, then Rick and Morty for a while until they released the episode where a character says “Hey Siri Call 911” and after being woken up to my device confirming a call to emergency services I had to switch back to Futurama.
Shout out to Futurama Sleepers, I hope it picks up on Lemmy.
It’s been a while, but How It’s Made. That guy could put anyone to sleep
He can also get you pretty drunk if you take a drink every time he says “a worker”.
I can’t sleep if there’s any sort of talking. For some reason I can’t tune it out and my mind latches onto every word
My ex would go to sleep to those CSI and true crime murder porn shows and I’d be laying there, mad, exhausted, with a pillow over my head, but still invested in whether or not the over-helpful neighbor was the real killer.
Star Trek: Voyager
PBS spacetime. The concepts get me tired and sleepy
Bad habit, your brain needs a lack of talking heads when you sleep.
If silence doesn’t work for you, try something with steady noise. Some use white noise generators, for me it’s the whir from an air purifier.
This is ideal, some people can’t shut off the voice in their head, so the next best thing to silence is listening to someone else who isn’t talking about whether you’ll find a job tomorrow or a boyfriend or ask about that growth you just noticed on your leg…
Yep can confirm. The best thing is having a calm voice talk about something I don’t care about, so the voice in my head shuts up and I can sleep
This was how I felt until the tinnitus started to get more noticeable. Variable soft sounds are great now.
My thoughts would overwhelm the silence, and well, we can’t have that.
Background noise can really help people with PTSD sleep through the night. Give it a go if this applies to you
Any long run laugh track sitcom ie Mike & Molly or Mom (Netflix).
None. Can’t do it. If there are voices some FOMO bit of my brain has to listen to what they’re saying and I can’t sleep.
I do listen to music sometimes, for some reason lyrics don’t have the same effect on me as speech.
“Hey I’m Grump, I’m not-so Grump, AND WE’RE THE GAME GRUMPS!”
I don’t often, but Drifting off with Joe Pera.
Joe Pera is mine too, both the podcast and some episodes of the show too.
If you stay up long enough, you can also catch Dr. Brule
Thank you Mr. huqrugus. To your health!
I’m a doctor too you dingus!
I know.
