  • There are about 500 people living in the vicinity of the proposed oil wells, and it is 800km from the next nearest town of 250 people.

    It is extremely isolated. The entirety of Iceland is closer to the area than 90% of Greenland’s population.

    I am not saying that a group of motivated and local Greenlanders could not make their way up and boot them out, but the regional and national apparatus is not designed for this kind of action.

    I would actually say Iceland’s police force and coast guard would be able to do more here than Greenland.

    Denmark and the European NATO countries can very easily deal with this though, but it is clear that it is an attempt to escalate from the US.
