  • I’ve been to known to do this. When I was on a stimulant for ADHD, I would get ravenously hungry whenever it wore off, which was often late in the evening.

That doesn’t really explain why it’s such a trope, but my theory is that you’re right about it being a US thing. It is common for us to eat dinner/supper early (like 5-7 pm) relative to some parts of Europe, which means that there’s more time until breakfast and therefore we’re more likely to get hungry late in the evening.

  • Genuinely curious, what benefit does having wifi in your microwave get you? You still have to put in and take out the food, and it’s not like microwaves take all that long to cook food either. I also use maybe 2 buttons on my microwave (+30sec and cancel/stop), but maybe you can save particular power/time combos? Idk

I did like having a ‘smart’ washer/dryer in my previous apartment, as it would send me notifications about when the cycle was done and reminders if I let it sit for too long.

  • Without going into the aerodynamics, which plenty of others have gone into, the main problems I see are:

    • The structural integrity of the wings is effectively kneecapped by those 2 rotors. There’s almost no material remaining where the wings meet the body and there’s a lot of force that needs to transfer through that area.
    • Unless the center of gravity is within the triangle defined by the rotors, you’re going to have a really bad time trying to control that thing during vertical flight.
    • Where would all the fuel and drivetrain for 4 props (which all take up significant space) live? There is almost certainly minimal room for any sort of cargo or payload.
    • Why would you want a “thick unitary” frame (I’m assuming you mean unibody here)? We put thin skin with a supporting skeleton on aircraft to reduce the weight of the craft itself without sacrificing too much rigidity, which makes more weight available for fuel and/or cargo.

Is this a generated image? In addition to the font being the one that generated images tend to use, there’s some callouts here that also just don’t make sense: the double “pure one-piece static frame” and “thick, unitary body frame” callouts are, I think, saying the same thing in two unintuitive ways, and along with the “long clean wings” callout, none of them really have anything to do with the design concept here. Additionally, you’ve repeated the “maximum efficiency winged vtol configuration” and “cheapest minimalist one-piece construction” notes on the side, neither of which are necessarily true or provable from first principles based on the design- quite the opposite, if anything.

  • I get what you’re saying and agree with you that there tends to be an elitist slant within this community, but that courtesy is a two-way street. I don’t think it’s that much to ask that people to put in the bare minimum to respect the spaces they enter without having to be cajoled to do so by others, and in turn, I do my best to respect the communities I visit both online and offline.

I actually rescinded my downvote after they added the tag because they were following the rules at that point, in spite of my misgivings about the project.
