When I introduce people to the game I always play a trial run with them that we can interrupt once everyone understands the game and then start fresh. Early placement of your settlements and roads can make a big difference (like you wouldn’t take number 2 and 12 as your starting numbers).

I also try to not dominate if I play with inexperienced people. I am just happy to play and as long as everyone else also like it, and that means I will get to play more and they will gain experience. When/if they are ready I will challenge then for real.

In my opinion Catan should be the game every family owns. The trading and negotiation aspect of Catan and the balance of the game itself makes you feel like you are always in control of your own situation. You have never truly lost until the game is over. In Monopoly you will see pretty early who will win and who will lose.

Hamas can be dealt with without bombing Gaza to shreds. And as far as I know there are no consequences the the Israeli gonverments actions.

But in Palestine all of the civilians has to pay the price for Hamas actions.

Edit: I forgot to mention it but there are evidence suggesting that the Israeli gonverment knew about the attack on Oct 7 before it happened but let it happen anyway because it gave them an excuse (it cannot be excused) to enter Gaza and kill as many as possible. They want ethnical cleansing.

Any amputation is too many. Whatever can be done to decrease the risks should be done. There’s no excuse to not have maximum safety for your workers. These days we have lots of options for protection available to use.

For example, there exists saws that will stop once it comes in to contact with flesh.

At least in Sweden we used to have important societal functions controlled by government but since I was born more and more has been privatized and a lot of it has not been for the better.

The privatization of public transport and our rail roads being one great example. They used to be in great shape and great pricing. Today that is not the case any more.
