What we see in the US is actually the end form of capitalism where it transcended the market to influence politics and capture the market even more.
Free markets aren’t exclusive to capitalism, and I would argue that the markets would be freer under socialism as it would respond to the needs of the community first and foremost.

Increasingly more people can’t pay for basics like rent and food, is it far fetched that they won’t pay 25-30$ for a t-shirt when they are indebting themselves more each month?
If you can afford ethically sourced clothes and you buy crap on Amazon, you are definitely a problem.
But if you just scrape by, you shouldn’t be blamed for buying a 5$ t-shirt.
The cost of living for basic stuff has far surpassed the wage growth though, so this isn’t just a budgeting problem (though there is some of that).
And I hate how individuals are blamed for their poor choices when the corpos are spending billions to try and distillate how to make people spend their hard earned money on them.
Our society is anti-humans and individuals are blamed because they succumb to the harsh pressure put on them everyday.

Absolutely, making the food is way less expensive and always has been.
Delivery was always more expensive, but the real costs were split between ordering and tipping the driver, so it didn’t feel as expensive.
But with services like doordash or uber, you see the upfront cost of everything.
Many restaurants around here which have their own delivery service started charging more for the food itself if you choose delivery. They don’t have a service fee per say, but they recoup that in the food price. So you end up paying as much as a third party delivery service.
If you pick up the food, you pay 1-2$ less per meal and save on the tip.
How is that a bad thing? The vulnerabilities get fixed and the distro is stable.
