Personally I find driving in France something else - an apparent obsession with being in the passing lane for as little time as possible. Like if you’re passing 2 lorries with 3 car lengths between them you absolutely do not need to pull in between them only to pull out again 2 seconds later.
God help you if you’re not passing something quickly enough for the driver behind you will sit 6 inches off your ass with the blinkers going.
It’s unnerving as fuck to watch a train of 10 cars, all doing 130km/h, 6 inches apart with one or two dudes weaving in and out of lanes, not leaving anything like a safe distance to the vehicle behind when they switch into either lane.
Similar in Germany, drivers are usually very good at keeping the left lane clear. But keeping a distance to the car in front, or keeping trucks out of the left lane are big opportunities
I wasn’t referring to myself but what I see when I drive. Trucks pulling into the left lane happens very often and people breaking from very high speeds is one of the consequences to avoid collision. I don’t drive often, but the Autobahn is no fun because driving normally ~120-130km/h gets you stuck between trucks and racers very often.
I agree, and it seems like a topic that should be supported by most parties. Introducing a speed limit is quite divisive and a great topic for parties that like to shoot themselves in the foot but this one should face little opposition.
This is what driving on the Autobahn is like. I wonder how much fuel/energy is wasted by the frequent breaking and subsequent acceleration.

You’re doing it wrong.

Fair enough. That’s sounds super dangerous, though. Sounds like they should be restricting trucks from using the left lane.
