This reminds me of Copycat. I do not recommend this game if you are a cat lover. It hit my radar, because, like Stray and Little Kitty, Big City, you get to play as a cat. However, I knew it was going to be a stressful time when I saw that your cat character is replaced by a lookalike cat, or a “copy cat”, and your goal is to get back into the family. The game just gets worse and worse (for the cat) the more you play. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good story (about who should not have a cat), but I also hated when the game only gave you the options to “scratch” or “bite” the human who had thus far done nothing bad to you, and abstaining from the choice simply paused (“pawsed”?) the narrative — you had to pick one or the other. And that’s not the only mean thing you do as the cat. Still, as a cat person, I still don’t think the cat deserved what she got.

And yeah, Dawn (the cat) gets all the cuddles. Both Dawns. The original cat and the “copy” cat.

I like the relationship with the cat more in Dungeon Crawler Carl. The big tough guy claims to not like his girlfriend’s cat, but he also enjoys when the cat sits on his lap while he plays video games. You later find out that his girlfriend was planning on getting rid of the cat, and he was thinking if they were to split up, he’d just take the old cat off her hands, since they’d grown attached, he just wasn’t consciously aware of it at the time. Like he’d take her out of duty or habit, but he later realised he enjoyed having the cat around, and when she starts speaking and understanding English shortly after they enter the dungeon, they’re able to talk through it. Definitely weird, but very cool.
