Trump wants to relabel New Mexico as New America days after changing the name of Lake Ontario to Lake Ameria

Donald Trump has already changed the name of the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Ontario, and now he’s targeting a US state for a rebrand.

Trump is spending the holiday weekend dreaming up his next demand to relabel America’s geography. He posted a map on Truth Social Sunday afternoon of New Mexico, but the word Mexico was crossed out and replaced with America.

Relabeling the southwestern state on the U.S.-Mexico border as New America is reminiscent of an executive order he signed early in his second term, in which he changed the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America.

Renaming bodies of water is incredibly stupid, but the names were arbitrary to begin with and probably not legally binding.

States have their own sovereignty, constitutions, and laws. You can’t overcome that with an executive order. You shouldn’t be able to overcome that with an act of Congress signed by the president.

Lake Ontario at least wasnt entirely arbitrary. It was named that way because of the first nations people’s who lived there and called it that.

Ontario canes from the Huron language meaning “Great Lake”. Actually 3 of the lake names basic ally translate to “Large/Great Lake”

Yeah, but that was under the constitution of the United States of America. They no longer exist. Now they’re the United States under Trump, by decree. Gotchaaaa!

And don’t bother answering. There’s another decree under way claiming you’re wong!!
