Because in order for their belief system to be passed down though generations, they had to make suicide a sin. Otherwise they would actually kill themselves to get to Heaven more quickly.
I have known Evangelicals who refused medical treatment because they were “ready to be with Jesus.”
Why can’t they do everyone a favor and pull a Heaven’s Gate? At least those guys didn’t want to make everyone suffer with them.
