I’m not up on whatever trend but it may work in some cases provided they’re not just marinating in filth (there’s definitely a difference).

I got psy-op’d by society into being very anxious about possibly smelling around a date since I sweat easily so I ensured absolutely every time before one was a VERY thorough shower and scrub til’ I was practically raw, generous application of deoderant, etc. and applied a light bit of tea tree oil before I went on a date.

On one of the early dates with my now-wife while we were watching a movie, she finally turned to me and said that there was some sort of smell to me that was giving her a headache for the past few dates and asked if I could just not use that moving forward.

It turned out that she actually hated the deoderant and tea tree and so on and actually some sort of wire is crossed in her head such that my natural body scent smells like passionfruit to her (she very positively rates passionfruit). So my early efforts to come off as if I have never had the concept of sweat in my life were directly sabotaging my attempt to appeal to her nose, in addition to making me feel insecure about it when there was really no need.

some people are really sensitive to tea treec oil smell, I honestly find it pretty upsetting to smell, had to use it as some sort of remedy for something I don’t remember, but I remember how much I hated the smell. there’s always a downside to over doing it on smells.

going light on perfume (or straight up not using it at all) should be borderline mandated by law, so many people suffer from being surrounded by pungent perfume, it can literally trigger asthma attacks!

Keep yourself clean, use like a single spritz of perfume, and apply it a while before you head out so it has time to mellow down a bit. And please god use gentle subtle scents, not Febreeze Facefuck Fury that singes people’s nose hairs clean off…
