I’d argue that during an unpowered flight attenpt, if the vertical distance traveled is greater than the horizontal distance traveled, that is not flying. That is plummeting.

So if I dive forward from a very low height I can briefly fly?

Ah, that finally explains the mystery of the Quimbaya Jets!

See, Malayo-Polynesians expanded across the Pacific, made contact with Amerindians in Colombia, and apparently traded their fighter jet technology for kūmara (sweet potato, a New World crop that the Polynesians had before the Columbian exchange too). Then those Amerindians time-traveled 1000 years into their past to give the jet plans to their ancestors who, through a hilarious error in metric-ancient unit conversion, made tiny gold models of them instead.

    [Big, fat

    \S

    for about half of that.]

Uh, have you not read any history and news your whole life? This is not a rare thing, and people with beliefs that are just as weird as hers get elected and put in positions of power all the time all over the world, and it’s always been like that.

Anything can fly if you strap a big enough rocket to it.

Though I’m guessing that’s not what she meant.

The earliest flight legend in Islamic history is Hezarfen Ahmed Çelebi, and even with historical records whether it has been successful is still a topic of debate among historians.

Claiming an earlier flight without any historical record to show as proof is a really dumb move.

Ancient Malays would be pre-Islamic, since Islam is Medieval.

Yeah but also fanatics to a degree. So to claim something like this is both being a heretic in eyes of islam and untrustworthy in eyes of teaching community. Stupid move.
