I bought a tube headphone amp recently. I kind of wish I had done more research because I didn’t realize what a bitch quality tubes are to obtain now.
I really thought vacuum tubes from the back of a TV would explode if I threw them at the back of the garage. I unsuccessfully applied this logic to many areas of early life.

Okay now that’s just cursed
Err, wut?
Looks like an amplifier with a tube buffer
But it’s a motherboard
its the audio amp.
Oh, okay that’s sick. I didn’t know you could get motherboards with that
That was one of, if not the only one ever made. It was in the 90’s. Notice the PCI and AGP slots. It was also terrible, the valve was prone to interference from the board, and valves make heat, the enemey of computers.
It’s just better to have an outboard DAC/amp, which of course could be a tube amp, if that’s your jam.
They work a lot better if you straighten the pins…
I have friends who roll tubes in their preamps, on otherwise modern sound systems, so yes, I remember yesterday when I was at a friends house.
Normally I’m not a fan of anything that indiscriminately colors the whole sound stage, but when that color is dripping-sexlicuously, I’m in.
Sure. I’m looking at four of them from the couch
mmh nice , two mono block amps?
It’s a KAM Lumberjack guitar amplifier serving a Sovtek 4x10 cabinet.

I am old and no, I haven’t a fucking clue what those are.
You’re not old then. I’m old and have had a multitude of different electronic equipment with different types of tubes in them. From radios to amps to TVs to oscilloscopes.
Thermionic valves. Never used them personally but I know what they are
are those terminator teeth?
Yes. Next question.
Man, I haven’t seen one of those since the last night I spent with your mom
