I actually think that the world has and will continue to get better for the vast majority of people. I would say it’s pretty difficult to create a world where there is a 0% chance of anything at all getting worse, but fewer people are dying of malaria, we’re close to eradicating polio, way fewer people die in wars than used to etc. And even if most people are waay off on how to make the world a better place, at least they usually want it to be. Many humans working together on a task has historically been a great recipe for success. The better the world becomes, the more of us can spend time helping each other.

Food supply is dependent on an environment that is able to support plant growth and it is now becoming too hot and dry for most of the plants we rely on to grow. As droughts become more frequent and as local temperatures rise agriculture will become impossible. Coupled with the expected flooding of almost all arable land on the planet as the ice caps continue to melt at an exponential rate. This will in turn make all the oceans less salty while the CO2 that’s been released into the atmosphere over the past 200 years makes it more acidic while also raising the average temperature by ~3°C which will likely create a mass extinction event of almost every marine mammal on the planet. We’re already seeing this happen in certain places with fish jumping out of the water as the ocean becomes too hot for them to survive and whale starving to death as the krill they feed on die out as the phytoplankton the krill feed on die out too.
We are currently in the middle of cascading environmental collapse. All you have to do to recognize it is open your fucking eyes and read the fucking data.
