    This sounds far too complicated to be practical. If you want to fund an instance then do it direct. You don’t need to game it.

    I can also already see the hordes of ridiculous edits to posts “Edit: thank you for the award kind stranger”. 🤮

      I never understood those comments on Reddit. Like, it sent you a message which you could reply to to thank the person directly. Why then also edit in thank you kind stranget into the comment itself? Always felt so performative and like you’re making fun of it imo.

      Doesn’t seem like it would be that difficult to do, and I just about guarantee that instances would receive much more in the way of donations if it were a simple click below a post or comment to do so. The whole settings and options don’t have to be a thing.

        I don’t think you’re appreciating what you’re asking. Payment processing and holding and distribution for a decentralized, non standard platform crossing arbitrary worldwide borders is among the most difficult things that could be implemented. Then you have to get buy in from hosts. Not happening.
