From geopolitical adversaries to covert foreign plots, Russia seemingly sees malign influences lurking everywhere. But according to a prominent pro-Kremlin activist, one of the country’s more underappreciated threats comes topped with cheese — pizza.
On Tuesday, Vitaly Borodin, who heads the Kremlin-aligned Federal Security and Anti-Corruption Foundation, called on Russian schools and universities to remove pizza from their cafeteria menus, branding the dish as Western “soft power in a cardboard box.”

Do people remember the Gorbachev Pizza Hut commercial, in which the guy who hates Gorbachev for failing to hold the Soviet Union together is convinced that actually Gorbachev is okay because the fall of the Soviet Union allowed Pizza Hut to enter Russia? “Pizza is soft power” was basically the thesis.
(And yes, Gorbachev played himself in this ad, which didn’t air in Russia.)
Perhaps this is the one thing that would cause riots towards the Kremlin.
The pizza is so russophobic! /s
Weren’t jeans banned too in the soviet union?
I prefer the crust to be a little crunchy.
Maybe his recipes are shite?
Who would have thought the threat would come from Italia.
Oh, wait
Wait 'til he hears it was invented in New York
Who needs pizza when you have turnip?
