I welcome the attempt. A general strike takes a fuckton of organization, and we struggle to even get small workforces unionized. We will be working against efforts by strike busters and the massive far-right propaganda machine to disrupt our efforts and to divide us.
And then, we’d need someone to chart out the comprehensive demands, and then figure out a way to enforce them when the ownership class decides nah and retaliates with paramilitary force instead.
It’s going to be very difficult, and there are going to be a lot of setbacks.
For the moment, the way I see it, Americans are glad to be miserable and have ICE killing Americans for a little bit longer so long as they get to verify their masculinity, own the libs, put immigrants in torture prisons and deny to trans folk gender affirming healthcare.
But I would be delighted if the people of the US, who totally betrayed me (and themselves) in 2024, are now willing to fight back by the tens of millions.
That would take collectively seizing power from the governments and the banks.
It would take an immense amount of organization. Tens of millions of people coordinated across thousands of task forces.
Strike busters are effective at disrupting the organization of hundreds of workers on a few task forces. Strike busting is so effective, it’s regulated in the US. The owner class hires strike busters anyway and aren’t investigated.
It’s not impossible, but it would take a sociological miracle. More so given the coordinated efforts by the far-right propaganda machine to sow division among the population.
We’re going to have to suffer and die a whole lot before we bust out the guillotines. But maybe someone will get creative and innovate a new technique.
They’ve been conditioned to want to own the libs for a while now, and FOX News has gotten super good at it.
The fear and outrage and open bigotry are the hook that pulls people in. Then the red-pills (the conspiracy theories) invite the viewer to disregard all other news sources that run contrary. They’re being gaslighted the same way an abusive spouse isolates their partner so there is no where else to go. Soon the viewer is in an information silo, just them and FOX News, alone together.
And then every story confirms the MAGA ideology.
I don’t know if there’s a counter for it. Reagan got rid of Fairness doctrine in news media, and our education system long decided that critical thinking skills beget disobedience.

See, the ultra-wealthy are really rich. More so than they’ve ever been in history.
And a lot of economists, including Nobel laureates, are saying the only way to fix this situation is to redistribute all the wealth at the top.
Anything else may kick the can down the line for a couple of years.
And what is happening in the US is going to happen to all the industrialized nations. (It’s already happened to all the undeveloped nations.)
What’s scary is that AI as a service is really expensive, and the AI companies have been selling tokens as a severe loss all this time.
If you’re that dependent on AI, what happens when you have to bear the full price?
You’re going to give up your AI girlfriend, is what.
The Sierra Nevadas are no joke. If you drive through them in wintertime you are absolutely taking a risk, not only because you’re driving on windy (if well-maintained) mountain highways, but you may get stuck in snow despite your chains and will freeze to death.
If you are lucky, a CHP or forest ranger may see you and help you out.
Heaven forbid you have engine trouble or run out of fuel.
Regarding voter machines, the developers of the machines are not the same as those who operate the elections.
Election results go through a lot of bookkeeping analysis, and the results are examined by multiple entities that have allegiances to both parties, and they don’t like each other very much, so they’re eager to jump on the other when they make an error or a false claim.
If there are irregularities, they get detected, and if not everyone analyzing the results are showing different outcomes, it invites a higher level of scrutiny.
This isn’t to say weird shit doesn’t occur. In Palm Beach, 2000, Pat Buchanan got a conspicuously high number of votes that probably should have gone to Gore, because Democratic-leaning seniors there got confused with the butterfly ballots. In 2020 and 2024, there were a lot of single-mark ballots, in which voters voted only for Biden, Harris or Trump, and abstained from everything down-ballot. Biden got more of them in 2020. Trump got more in 2024. These things happen, but they are oddities within the constraints of the possible, and were robustly confirmed by the system.
Now, I concede that electronic voting machines should run on open source software, and they don’t, but there are a lot of distrustful eyes on the output of those machines. Gaming them would take a conspiracy of a lot of people, and as we’ve seen in the White House, even six super-loyal cabinet members cannot seem to stop information leaks.
PS: I had the same hypotheses and learned about this stuff in 2000 when Bush stole the election from Gore with a bit of help from SCOTUS (who made a ruling they totally knew was bogus, and insisted should never be used as precedent.) Gore won the majority, but failed to take Florida due to the ruling. The United States let George W. Bush (promising to be a compassionate conservative) and we all regretted it immediately after he took office. And then the 9/11 attacks happened in 2001 and everything went way to shit.
They’re legitimate in that more voters actually chose Trump over Harris.
The Republican party also engages in a fuckton of gerrymandering, voter suppression, voter caging, intimidation, etc. to reduce voter output. And then there’s the EC which puts races for President squarely in the hands of a few battleground states.
Then there was vast social media campaigns by interests both foreign and domestic. Many of them are just to confuse the issues and discourage voting. But that’s on top of the massive far-right propaganda machine.
Far-right propaganda (such as the whole of FOX News programming) has gotten really good at turning low-education men into obedient war boys for the MAGA movement. They appeal to their desire to be significant, then isolate them in an information silo and then feed them the MAGA ideology.
Then there’s Elon Musk, who was a considerable factor all his own. One analysis looked at Musk’s $250 million campaign contribution to Trump, including paying people to register to vote. His money flipped about 30,000 votes in key districts at the cost of about $1000 per vote.
Eighteen months later, courts are saying that what Musk did may have been illegal, but the election is over. Trump is President, and we have to live with that. And Musk is beyond the reach of law, so we can’t expect accountability.
Musk can do the same thing thousands of times, and the ownership class is interested in subverting democracy more than just in the US. This figures largely in why several economists, including Nobel laureates are saying that our ultra-wealthy are a catastrophic existential risk for the human species. That the only way out of this mess is to take their wealth back and redistributed it to the rest of the population.
Biden was a centrist Democrat who tried to get progressive in his presidential term, but yes, it was a too little too late.
