Our management wants daily, camera on, pre-shifts. My supervisor, audio only, once, maybe twice a week. Once she goes over all the stuff she needs to cover she asks if anyone has anything they need to go over. We have a few gossips on the team and they will proceed to take over and spend the next hour making everyone listen to what they think.

I’ve told my supervisor to say, anything work related, and then when they start that she should cut them off and say I said work related, if you want to discuss non-work related things you can start your own group chat as long as you are not falling behind.

She has so far refused to stand up to them hijacking our meetings like that, so even though I’m required to stay in the meeting until it’s ended, I just stay silent for a while and eventually leave then set myself to red so it looks like I’m on a call with one of the people I regularly interact with. Nothing has been said and if it is I’ll point out that being in that meaningless meeting is hurting my productivity.

I feel ya, I’m still in my early 20’s…at heart.

I recently made a reference to the saved by the bell very special episode about caffeine to a younger coworker as a joke. I then had spend the next five minutes explaining the episode to her and assuring her that yes it was real.

Yep that was my thought too. I still looked mine up, I’m just not posting it. Funny enough, it’s a song I never cared for, but I know my mom absolutely hates.

Meh, I’m not really a vacation person. Honestly I have to force myself to take time off every year, it’s not a loyalty thing it’s just in my DNA to just work, my mom is the same, her father was the same. Though I admit I am trying to avoid ending up like him since he was such a worker he died on the factory floor, heart attack not an accident.

True, I have a good amount of PTO saved up, but I can’t take it in large groups outside of emergencies.

I hated my childhood and there’s nothing that could get me to relive that part of my life. That being said this whole work for money exchange program we’re forced into as adults sucks…40+ hours a week… EVERY WEEK! And no recess or summer vacation!

Ok then the administration should push all employers to make any position that is able a work from home decision. But we all know that won’t happen, got to protect those commercial real estate profits!
