I really like Arch because I have a very custom setup and like to try the newest things, but this really worries me as Arch-based user-friendly distros that use the same packages make the repos a bigger target.

I’m an American, but having read the legal proposal, I think they’re on the right track with tracking, monitoring, and even taxing vacancies. Compulsory purchase seems too easy to abuse, but then I don’t trust my government.

How do we know if these are actually a good thing for the environment? It seems like it’s at least possible the excess waste offsets the benefit.
