A task / to do organizer that:
-
intelligently populates a “do today” list while handling dependancies and scheduling
-
is editable and viewable by multiple people, has individual tasks for each user, and also pulls from a list of shared tasks
-
keeps a record of when and by who previous tasks were completed
-
is capable of but does not require integration with calendar, fitness tracker, and messaging

time to pay more for haircuts then, not less
It’s less “women are too weak” and more “the point if war is to kill off excess young men so there’s more young women available for powerful older men”
Top tier comedic timing and master of facial expression physical comedy. He just brings an energy to the Daily Show that’s unmatched.
I’d say a centralist is someone who wants things centralized.
But yes, some people describe themselves as centrist when they mean “I don’t view my positions as extreme but neither do I care to justify them”.
And some people describe themselves as centrist when they’re politically apathetic.
And some people describe themselves as centrist when they have a grab bag of views and don’t feel they fit neatly in the right or left wing.
And some people describe themselves as centrist because they’re contrary and can’t bring themselves to agree with anybody.
And, very rarely, there are people who describe themselves as centrist because they are in the process of changing their mind.

I feel like you learned something about the use of language from the replies to the first draft of this post, but I notice you did not retain my correction re: “net” positive.
- ℕ𝕖𝕞𝕠@slrpnk.nettoNo Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Does the net positive of Eugenics out weigh the negative? How so?9·11 days ago
Okay, three things, least important first:
Using “net” positive already refers to comparing it against the negative. If you want just the positive before comparison, use “gross”.
Second, there is no positive to eugenics. There are hypothetical gains to make but they are unrealizable. This is because the mechanisms to decide who gets to reproduce will immediately be corrupted. Immediately. Every time.
And finally, the negatives are huge. Personal anguish, public unrest, widespread violation of civil rights depending on how draconian you make your regime, the downsides are huge and certain.
So unrealizable and uncertain gains at the a huge and certain price: No. No eugenics.
If you want to personally have lots of children with smart, beautiful, talented people, well, get in line.

Not all of us, though. Science can be an end unto itself.

Only if it was temporary or I had backup housing, eg. working as a summercamp counselor.
I suppose I would also consider it if the housing was not tied to employment, but was free with employment, that is, it’s my residence and they can’t kick me out but it’s no-cost as long as I work there (which as far as I understand it, is kinda how the US Coast Guard does it).
- ℕ𝕖𝕞𝕠@slrpnk.nettoAsk Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's Your Thoughts About Moderating Your Own Posts?4·15 days ago
When I was on reddit, I always asked another mod to review it. If it was egregious I’d remove first with no ban and then ask for review; if it was borderline I’d just wait for them. The only exception was metaposts and megaposts, where I was speaking for the sub or modteam at large. But for any personal posts, it’s both better ethics and better optics to have another mod deal with it.
Why would we assume that’s the purpose of science?

We’ve been using AI for decades and while generative AI is widely despised and mostly deserving of that despite, lumping all AI together while calling out the harms is doing a disservice to a lot of useful AI techniques and tools.

If everything’s on one platform, how much does that platform cost?
And if everything is one one platform, how robust is it against censorship?
