  • The USPS is aware and doesn’t give a crap. When they were centralizing sorting and cancellation and gathered public comment, a lot of people said that’s going to cause problems because a lot of laws verify a legal deadline with a postmark date. The USPS said everyone is using postmark wrong and the solution is they need to educate us better. (That was their official response.)

    When asked about concerns about mail in ballots, administrators in Washington were told that they were too small a percentage of USPS business to really worry about and that the USPS was going to look out for the needs of the USPS.

    It’s nice the public is finally catching up, but government workers who routinely work with the USPS have seen this coming for years. It isn’t about maintaining a trusted partnership anymore, that era has already ended. The only question now is when our cross purposes become completely incompatible.
