Like the scene where Zeus is destroying the ship, and for some reason he does it with rain and wind? And this was changed from the original story, where Zeus strikes with, obviously, a gigantic fucking lightning bolt. Is there some artistic reason for this that I missed? I know Nolan hates CGI, but come on.

I enjoyed the movie well enough, but it never wowed me.

Does it work though? For being the first film shot totally in Imax, The Odyssey was kind of dull to look at.

My son pretty much eats his hot dogs this way. He eats a lot of foods this way. When he eats half a donut, it’s usually the top half.

Ok, but what if it really is him? I mean if we’re assigning moral blame then you’re right: many, many people are responsible. But negative outcomes for evil beliefs aren’t a given. What if people are always just this stupid, and it took a certain person with certain traits to bring this out of them? Did people change, or were they just latently stupid but mostly harmless this entire time? Things were going pretty well for a while there, so what if we were teetering on the edge that whole time?

His death might also give some of the smarter fascists an off-ramp, which could reduce their critical mass. I’m NOT saying they deserve an off-ramp, but if it means society starts heading in the right direction again, maybe it’s worth it. We’d all prefer to excise the tumor completely, but sometimes that seems impossible. Remission would still be a blessing.

I guess what I’m saying is, let’s not be too cynical while we’re celebrating this person’s death.

I’m a super taster as well. Raw onion is a hard no for me, but caramelized onions are like a cheat code for making every meal delicious.

But you’ve got the artificial sweetener thing backwards. Super tasters tend to prefer real sugar and find the fake stuff cloying and unpleasant. I’d bite into an onion like it was an apple before I’d drink a diet soda.

Woke means “aware of systemic inequality”. It’s been part of the English language for a hundred years, and the definition hasn’t shifted much.

When a Republican says they’re “anti-woke”, they mean that they are in favor of hiding systemic inequality, because they want to preserve it. They’re usually using the word correctly, even though they’ve failed to define it explicitly.
