As former minimum wage grocery worker, cart duty is legit the best job on site. You get to be outdoor, doing something actually useful, can put on headphones and don’t have to interact with any annoying customers. If we shame everyone into returning their carts, then noone will be on cart duty. Then they’re just gonna cut the job, or reassign people into more annoying nonsensical jobs like pretending to stock the shelves to deter thieves or just standing at self-checkout doing nothing and being bored out of your mind (you are not allowed to wear headphones or play on your phones when standing at self-checkout).
