The song game. I feel like a lot of people have come up with it naturally.

One person plays a song. The next person has to then play a song with some sort of connection to it. Like, you could follow the velvet underground’s “Sunday Morning” with Nirvana’s “Lithium” because it has the line “Sunday morning is every day for all I care”. Any connection is valid so long as the group accepts it, but I prefer lyrical ones myself.

That’s it. You go around until you lose interest.

I like it as a way to share music, because to do well you typically have to actually listen with their song.

The followers must feel humiliated by the ostentatious wealth and force of their enemies. When I was a boy I was taught to think of Englishmen as the five-meal people. I’m going to argue that the “normal” point of view that holds losing your virginity as a big fucking deal (pun intended) is in fact unhealthy. It’s often bundled up with patriarchy. It really doesn’t need to have all the brouhaha. That creates a lot of misery and hangups.

Every one of those right wing complainers are among the worst people on earth.

They never seem to complain about rich people who just live off investments and inherited wealth.

I would only intentionally live somewhere with good mass transit. I don’t want to own a car. I don’t want to feel like owning a car is playing on hard mode.

That’s a big factor in why I’m in New York City. There’s good transit that runs 24/7.

There’s also places to go. Things to do. Saw like five bands play this summer. If a band is going on tour they’ll almost certainly play here. There’s beaches. There’s parks. You can take the train and hike up a mountain.

Some stuff is expensive but there’s deals. My favorite bar has $5 beers. My favorite grocer has $1 fruit. My friend lives in a house with a bunch of fellow queer weirdos and pays like $1k rent for their room.

I’m not really involved but there’s a lot of queer content here, too. My friend really found their people and filled a void they didn’t realize they had when they lived in suburban Midwest.

Matching average tone and depth is an important skill.

I’m pretty happy in New York City. But I’d probably go to somewhere in Europe if I had to leave. Or maybe Montreal. I’d want to do some research and visit before picking a long term home though.
