You may have been joking but some of us really had no idea who he was.

Forecasting models predicted that the current steep funding cuts could result in more than 14 051 750 (uncertainty interval 8 475 990–19 662 191) additional all-age deaths, including 4 537 157 (3 124 796–5 910 791) in children younger than age 5 years, by 2030.
The Bundibugyo strain of Ebola—for which there are no drugs or vaccines—continues to spread in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Uganda and threaten neighboring countries in Central Africa. A month after the World Health Organization declared a public health emergency of international concern, many experts are tracing the outbreak’s magnitude in part to disinvestment in global health security, including through the July 2025 dismantling of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), which had led the U.S.’s humanitarian and development efforts abroad since the 1960s. The vast majority of staff and projects were terminated; those remaining were absorbed by the U.S. State Department.

I’ve found it intolerable for a long time, with its mixture of techbro conformism, fad-chasing and self-hype, but it’s even worse these days. AI boosters are so obnoxious that they’re actually doing valuable work putting people off AI.

An electron meeting a positron will apparently release 1.022 MeV of energy. I’m no physicist but my understanding is that this isn’t huge (it converts to 1.637×10⁻¹³ Joules). For comparison, fission of a uranium-235 nucleus releases about 200 MeV.

You know they’ll say it’s time to heal and move on and not look backwards.

Yep, and I dropped a couple of Drumpfs in there today too.
Sounds like Republicans intend to start arresting state election officials, and the bar they’ve set for doing that is so low that they can basically arrest whomever they want, and thereby shut down polling or counting facilities at will.

I think I’ll rename the water in my toilet bowl the Lake of Trump.
I remember when MAGA claimed Trump couldn’t be bribed because he was already rich. Trump checks pretty much the boxes for someone who can be both bribed and blackmailed: he’s greedy, proud, insecure, has a criminal history he wants to keep secret including rape and money laundering, is a pedophile, has no sense of loyalty, and there’s a good chance he was (maybe still is) in debt to the the Russian mob.

Most countries hand-count paper ballots.
It can be made accurate, with the right checks and balances. And that’s what most countries do. You can’t argue it’s impossible, because it’s done all the time.
The link below lists some of the systems countries use to ensure election integrity and accurate counts. Some of these are only available if you use paper ballots and count by hand.

A whole lot of countries make it work:

It’s quite possible to use paper ballots and still get the results quickly. Many countries do this.

A car repair business has many more expenses with specialist buildings, equipment purchase and maintenance, staff, insurance, and so on, than a typical landlord. Plus you don’t have to pay rent on top of the service fee when they’re fixing your car.

They did call Biden out by name, which they didn’t for Trump.
It works for Putin.
It affects a handful of people directly but it’s intended to intimidate many more.
Unsurprisingly, he doesn’t know shit.
