I go to india quite regularly, food there is not very spicy and they assume because i’m american that I can’t handle spice so I always have to tell them i’m not a typical american (i’m not even white i’m just a fair-skinned mixed person, and neither of the things i’m mixed with are white either).
i think the reason people say this is because rich americans go to india and have a very white bland palette and nearly all indian foods are at least just a little spicy.
