Yeah, ok, sure, good things to keep in mind, but also being pregnant can really, really suck. I had so much nausea the entire time, and then so much guilt and worry for not being able to power through better. Anyone pregnant who’s reading this and stressing about it: it’s ok if you’re just in survival mode!

Yes, but we also tend to ignore the cost of car crashes. Some of the cost is incurred by the individual, if their car gets damaged, but most of the cost of car crashes ends up getting paid by taxpayers.
Here’s a nice summary, although not related to wildlife specifically: https://maxmautner.com/2026/09/10/paying-for-driving.html
Bean soup, the best of all soups
Sure, I do it all the time. Turns out, volleyball has a real advantage for height. Should we ban all women over 6ft from playing volleyball? Being that tall is inherently unfeminine. Or maybe we should just ban any women who are too good at sports? Women are supposed to be gentle and soft, not aggressive! Get those aggressive, competative, manly women outta here.
The situation you’re talking about is rare enough to be negligible compared to the number of people excluded from women in sports communities for no reason. And honestly, for the VAST majority of athletes, playing sports is about community and inclusion, not accolades.
