I also had some difficulty getting it working on my rig, and I’m not a big fan if Debian’s documentation, as it often does assume knowledge, which makes it harder to follow along and feel confident you’re doing the correct steps.

Ultimately I switched my only Nvidia system to standard Linux Mint to have access to their easy to use Nvidia driver installer, which makes upgrading or downgrading the driver a 1-click process (though it requires a third party PPA done by a canonical employee to access the latest 610 drivers).

Personally my favorite is the first game, but I was overall disappointed with the second game. I felt it was a somewhat dramatic step down in writing quality, and though there were some amazing set pieces, the latter half of the game felt like a bit of a slog to me.

The 3rd game has even worse writing IMO (especially the colonel’s dialog), but I was surprised that, for the most part, I enjoyed the gameplay most of the way through, and found the travelling aspect to be quite neat. I had more fun with it than the 2nd game, at least.

The Nvidia driver in the Debian repos is virtually abandoned, though thankfully the Cuda repos hosted by Nvidia support Debian now, and give Debian users access to the latest drivers, like 610.

I feel I’m already at my limit with how many communities I moderate and try to post in, combined with being an admin on slrpnk.net. I would be stretching myself too far creating yet another community, especially one that requires original content to be created for it. :(

The closest to that would be hard sci-fi, where many authors were in STEM fields and used that background in their writings, or wrote stories based around their real life STEM field (this is often the case in Analog Magazine).

Some were punk in the solarpunk/cyberpunk sense, as they were often anti-authoritarian, and sometimes even anticapitalist.

LXQt and MATE are the most comparable alternatives. Neither have commented on AI contributions (either for or against), AFAIK.

Unknowingly using potentially copyrighted code from an LLM in a FLOSS project opens it up to being sued for infringement, which most FLOSS devs can’t afford to fight, especially in the US’s current extremely pro-corporate courts.

It’s putting a target on your back for down the road when it becomes profitable for patent trolls to use AI to try to scan for copyrighted code on public code bases. Big tech companies could do the same to squash an open source competitor.

I’m certainly not pleased with it.
