I’m a redfugee came with the big exit about a year ago. I post prolificaly, comment sporadically and have a couple of comms. I love it, it feels more like the olden days of the Internet when everything was smaller and you knew people. I sometimes idly scroll Reddit but not even once a week, it’s fucking dire and atmosphere is shit. Insta I’m on a few times a day for memes and Reels.

I agree it can get extremist. I’m left in some areas, right in others so I just keep my opinions to myself. I’ve found generally when I say anything that isn’t extreme left I get some nasty comments. It’s a shame cos I love balanced and reasonable conversations with people.

The disabled community is often invisible and are a vulnerable community. We’re often ignored, underestimated and pride is a way of drawing attention.

Disability discrimination is rife in schools and work, with many having to attend tribunals Disabled people are at elevated risk of crime victimisation including sexual violence, assault and domestic abuse. They’re at increased risk of mental health issues and even suicide

There’s the knock on effect as well, including strain on parents of disabled children.

Pride gives us a voice, and raises awareness about how we’re mistreated. It’s also a way for us to be positive about ourselves. My disability gives me skills and strengths others don’t, but many can’t see past the negatives of my disability.

Thanks mate, you certainly have to accept the losses. I look at soft outcomes though, so making the children feel heard and like they matter. It gets me through.

I’m a domestic abuse outreach worker and I see it a lot in clients. Abusers are always selfish and generally manipulative and liars. They have little or no empathy for their partner and rarely care how the partner feels. They’re often highly successful in their field, because they have such great manipulation skills.

Lone actor grievance fuelled violence is an underestimated issue IMO. Incels are fucking dangerous
