Hang on to this take to make policing a bit less dangerous
Departments could have their officers start wearing less tactical uniforms, maybe blue shirt and pants. Maybe they could have the officers then walk around towns, visit local stores, go to town hall meetings to get to know the neighborhood. Maybe be seen doing some volunteering and helping the community out. You know have the officers be an upstanding citizen of the community that helps out. A person that the community trusts. They could also MAYBE just MAYYBEE be trained to de-escalate situations with negotiation tactics?
I know it’s a crazy idea, it’s never happened in the past. Remember we have always lived in an over militarized police state that shoots first and never asks questions.
If you wanted to depress the beef market this is a good way to do it. Whether the tainted meat makes it into America or not the suspicion of tainted meat will have consumers reducing or all out stop buying beef, at least for a while.
reduce entitlement spending
It’s never the fault of the Billionaires getting massive tax cuts - it’s always the fault of the poor person trying to buy food .
This is precisely how it will go and the right and corpo Dems will beat this drum hard if there are a significant amount of progressive leaning members in congress. For the republicans its a way to continue to shift the blame to the citizens not the corporations for the Dems its a way to try to weaken the progressive’s chances to build long term momentum.
Reno Police officer R. Jager, described in the filings as a rookie officer, arrived on scene and reviewed Killinger’s documentation. Killinger provided his driver’s license, a UPS payslip, and his vehicle registration. All documents matched his name and appearance.
Despite this, Jager accused Killinger of using fraudulent identification and suggested he had a connection inside the DMV to fabricate documents. In his police report, Jager claimed Killinger had “conflicting identification” and said he “lacked satisfactory evidence” to confirm his identity.
I think this cop has watched too many CBS police dramas. And I think this cop is stupid.
or maybe between 0 and 1. that way it would be easier to see if the topic that I’ve decided is super interesting and won’t shut up about is interesting to the to the other person as well. If I start seeing the number dropping quickly, time to change topics or just walk away.
The slow and then not so slow creep of needing a phone to do anything is a template that AI companies are using to force adoption of their AI product.
