I’m honestly shocked by anyone south of the US not using the SI system considering they use metric otherwise.

I always say if I were a billionaire I would fund games and shows left and right, there are so many ideas that die or fizzle because of lack of funding. Seems like most people with money have no other passion but their money and controlling others.

Personally I would sponsor whatever cyberpunk game CDPR is working on next and for an original IP I’d like to see a medieval era ghost of Tsushima like game with all the longswords, chainmail and leather armor that comes with that.

I have raid 5 to protect against hdd failure and I run syncthing and duplicati on immich and other folders for on premise and remote backups.

What I’m curious about is how people make stuff like Immich and nextcloud available to other people outside their network? When I need to access something remotely I vpn in. I know I don’t have the knowledge to have my server connected to the open internet in a secure manner. I don’t think someone like family members would ever want to bother with anything other than a link and a login page so only me and my partner use these services.

Isn’t this a rare case of well deserved? Bringing an actual benefit to society and not just random hype.

But this particular example is far from a cooked brain situation. I had the same questions when I was a kid about how they make cartoons and movies. There are many practical and in camera effects that were used to make people bigger or smaller and are very interesting to learn about. Nothing cooked about it.
