Liberals are supporters of capitalism. Capitalists are owners of capital.

Capitalism is the problem, not conservatives alone. Liberals support capitalism and thus the problem.
China has not developed into communism yet. Socialism is a transitional status between capitalism and communism.
Welfare is not socialism. Socialism is a broader system with a worker state and public ownership of the commanding heights of the economy. Regulations without a worker state and without public ownership of the commanding heights is always twisted in a manner that either protects capital or entrenches it. The European social democracies all rely on imperialism for their safety nets because they do not have socialism.

You cannot overturn bourgeois rule using the bourgeois state.

Anarchists that support existing socialist states get called tankie all the time. “Tankie” isn’t an ideology or a species of human, it’s a pejorative for a loose grouping of those that like, say, China and Cuba.
All of the little bits of change that have happened have been secondary to the actual evolution of capitalism. We cannot fix capitalism.
The shift to the 40 hour work week came alongside 2 critical advancements: organized working classes taking inspiration from successful socialist revolution, and the expansion of imperialism abroad. Devastating working conditions were exported from the global north to the global south in a collective agreement to stop a risk of revolution.
“Progress” in what manner, and for who?
The problem is that incremental change is only possible in systems that have room for incremental improvement, and are run democratically. This rules out capitalism entirely.
Why are you arguing for recolonization of Hong Kong and Taiwan?
What makes you think support for China is entirely uncritical?
Not based, baseless. The best and most comprehensive resource I have seen so far is Qiao Collective’s Xinjiang: A Resource and Report Compilation. Qiao Collective is a group of Chinese diaspora living in the west, and they compiled an extremely comprehensive write-up of the entire background of the events, the timeline of reports, and real and fake claims. The majority of their sourcing is western, and they cite official Chinese government writing and white papers when relevant. Uyghur culture is preserved.
I also recommend reading the UN report as well as (especially) China’s response to it, which eclipses it in size and detail. These are the most relevant accusations and responses without delving into straight up fantasy like Adrian Zenz, Christian nationalist and professional propagandist for the Victims of Communism Foundation, does. Zenz’ work has been thoroughly discredited, yet is supported by western media for its utility in fearmongering. An example is lying about 8.7% of new IUDs as 80%, to back up claims of “forced sterilization,” from this chart:

Early hunter/gatherers lived lives without the state, class, or money. This was referred to by Marx and Engels as “primitive communism,” though I prefer the term “early communism” or “ancient communism.”

The spiral doesn’t end, communism will not be the end of history. Humanity will always have problems and struggles, be they here on Earth or among the stars. Communism is going to be the end of class struggle, but everything is in constant motion and all development is driven by contradictions. The creation of a stateless, classless, moneyless society, “rhymes” with early communism that lasted for the bulk of human history. At the same time, it is forward in history, we are not returning to hunter/gatherer lifestyles but instead will stitch all of production and distribution together in one unified whole, scientifically planning how we develop in order to meet the needs of the people and advance collectively forward.
“Ideal communism” is not a thing. Such a notion draws more religious, holy implications than anything else. Communism is a real, material system naturally evolving out of socialism, itself evolving out of capitalism.

History may not be a straight arrow, but it does progress, even if it rhymes. History is not a circle, but a spiral.
Socialism with Frutiger Aero Characteristics
While it’s true that elections being cancelled is fearmongering, elections can’t stop fascism, because fascism is caused by capitalism in decay. Only socialism can stop fascism for good, like the Red Army crushing the Nazis.
Revolutionary optimism is not just healthy, but critical for maintaining effective practice.
How so?
