I don’t have many friends. Most of the friends I have I see about once a year. Seems to work fine, not much happens anyway so its not like we spend 8 hours going through all the events. Its more like one major event and a few smaller ones, then its just shooting the shit.
But if I don’t see or hear from someone in ten years and they don’t respond to my contact attempts or respond in a way that makes me think they are not interested, then those are not my friends.
PeerTube is horrible for finding even channels you know exists. I thought doing a duckduckgo search for “the linux experiment peertube” would have given me a result to the page, but turns out the easiest way was to go click on the first link, which was to a The Linux Experiment blog post, about leaving some other video service and moving to PeerTube, and finding the link there… https://tilvids.com/c/thelinuxexperiment_channel/videos
Anyway, thats the only one I can suggest, besides Veronica Explains, that I watch through PeerTube. I usually find the links to them through Lemmy. I haven’t been able to find new ones, or rather, I’ve given up on trying.
The whole thing is just a giant mess. I get that its a feature of the decentralized service, to be a bit of a mess but does it have to be this big of a mess? I remember trying to figure out how to subscribe to things through there, apparently you need to make a account. Sure, of course, makes sense. But then I read that you shouldn’t really make a account and save the account for creators? Not sure if thats instance specific thing, but I didn’t really bother finding out. Someone suggested to make a Mastodon account and use that, but I somehow failed to do that as well. I’m not sure how or why, but I gave up on that as well. So yeah, I’ve given up on trying to figure the thing out and just use it whenever I happen to stumble a link to a video hosted there.
Shame, really. I wanted to use it properly but its such a hostile experience and every time I’ve tried to figure it out, the answers have been very unhelpful or I’ve just found people asking the same questions as I do, with no answers to them. Bummer.
Of course not. I didn’t mean to say that would solve the issue completely. Theres plenty of other reasons why having a phone as a server is not the best idea, the battery is just the most flammable reason.
Assuming we would still be in this universe we call reality, any, really. Anything magical would be interested.
I saw one post where a guy was using a phone as a torrent share server thing. They had an app that cycled the battery between 10% and 80%. Setting that sort of thing up would take care of the battery issue.

I joined a IRC server at the beginning of this year, about 150 users there in total. A few months ago we set up a forum for the server, so I’m gonna say that one, since its the only one that I use, other than lemmy, lol. Its not very active, since there is only some dozens of people using it and not many of them are active, but its our little corner of the internet.

Even bicycles would be ruined quite fast. Bearings are quite intricate things, you cant really make one on your own very easily. Unless you have some excellent metal making capabilities and accurate lathes. They also need lubrication.
My dad does some bicycling and hes doing small maintenance ever 80-100km or so. Major maintenance once or twice a year. Involves lubrication, cleaning stuff, tightening things, changing parts…
Not sure what happens to it chemically, but it doesnt evaporate. They sell fuel preservatives that make it last longer. But as a rule, shouldn’t really use multiple years old fuel, unless you have some old bulletproof engine. New engines with their fancy fuel management systems and whatnot will just throw a hissy fit and die.
Crowned and also they have grooves, and usually those grooves are shaped mostly by heavier vehicles, vans, trucks and such. Normal passenger car doesnt really fit into those so it sort of wobbles from one to another.
Also, the shape of your tires, your wheel alignment, suspension bushings and other stuff affects it as well.
