The Justice Department finalized a rule Monday that will pave the way for people who’ve been barred from owning firearms because of criminal convictions to apply to have their gun rights reinstated.

The process launched by newly confirmed Attorney General Todd Blanche is a victory for Second Amendment advocates who have long pushed for nonviolent people with felony convictions to be given a pathway to regain their legal right to own firearms.

apply to have their gun rights reinstated.

That’s all you need to read. This isn’t a correction that certain felonies will no longer strip you of your right to own a gun, this is an application where someone looks at you and determines if you can have guns again. If you think this will be fair and balanced against all races and socio-economic groups, you’re a fucking idiot.

      Indeed.

“You fired a weapon at police while attempting a mob-based insurrection against the government? Here; have your rights back.”

“You’re a fifth generation American and an ambulance driver who was arrested because you saved the life of an ICE protester? No guns for you.”

“Your ancestors lived on this land before it was called America, but you were arrested for being homeless? We should lock you up for even ASKING. And then deport you.”
