Its still a personal and intimate moment which isn’t shared often. So I think people can be surprised and uncomfortable by it.
It’s very common in Norway for women to breastfeed in public. At restaurants, cafes, benches outside, shopping malls, pretty much anywhere. My wife even breastfeeds on the subway. The buss does not feel safe enough though due to shaking, potential for collisions etc. If the baby wants food, she gets food. There is some exceptions, but not many. The only times we use bottles is if my wife wants to go out dancing, and I watch the baby.
