Using Star Trek: Scouts feel like cheating.

I know I’m in the minority, but I enjoy “Subspace Rhapsody.” Got a real soft spot for comedy musicals.

Those two are actually the only items in this list that I have never watched. I have never seen anything from either of those series, I just know those are often brought up as complaints about the franchise.

SNW has much much worse episodes than the crack musical. Some people hate on musicals because they hate musicials. Doesnt make it a bad ep

The show meant for toddlers/young kids can be brushed off. SNW has plenty of merit, though not without its problems. It tends to dabble in genre episodes, monster of the week, while maintaining serialized subplots. Doesn’t always land.

Not sure how “Move Along Home” didn’t make the cut. I, personally, didn’t mind that episode (which also applies to much of this list), but that episode is often considered a low point. Using that also would have meant that I wouldn’t have to use “Code of Honor” twice.

      EDIT: Fixed. Allamarine!

I actually rank that one worse than move along home. While Worf’s childhood trauma is an interesting tidbit, fucking making him go against everything and shack up with a cult of right wing fascists because Dax fucked Vanessa Williams is bug shit insane.

That and we never got to see him in those lamé shorts

Knowing how much of a prankster Dorn was on set, he probably tried them on with full makeup to mess with everyone.

“Profit and Lace” was also on some “Worst of Star Trek” lists that I read while planning this video

But Profit and Lace has Rom teaching us to glide when we walk, and when we sit we should remember to keep our knees touching, and relax our shoulders but keep our butts tight!

    Alright, let’s do this:

    • ✘ Star Trek S3E1 “Spock’s Brain” — Hilarious, doesn’t belong in the list.
    • ✓ Star Trek: The Next Generation S1E4 “Code of Honor” — Offensive, belongs in the list.
    • ✓ Star Trek: The Next Generation S2E22 “Shades of Grey” — Clipshow, belongs in the list.
    • ✓ Star Trek: The Next Generation S2E18 “Up the Long Ladder” — Offensive, belongs in the list.
    • ✘ Star Trek V: The Final Frontier — Shatner did nothing wrong, doesn’t belong in the list.
    • ✓ Star Trek: Enterprise S4E22 “These Are the Voyages…” — Never loved Enterprise, but it didn’t deserve to have its finale hijacked. Belongs in the list.
    • ✓ Star Trek: Section 31 — Terrible, belongs in the list.
    • ✘ Star Trek: Strange New Worlds S2E9 “Subspace Rhapsody” — Wonderful, doesn’t belong in the list.
    • ✘ Star Trek: Discovery S1E1 “The Vulcan Hello” — Love Disco, doesn’t belong.
    • ✘ Star Trek: Lower Decks S1E1 “Second Contact” — Lower Decks started slow, but was never bad enough to belong in the list.
    • ✓ Star Trek: Scouts S1E4 “Asteroid Blasters, Number 4” — Never continued past the first episode, but I expect this belongs in the list.
    • ✓ Star Trek: Voyager S2E9 “Tattoo” — Offensive, belongs in the list.

      Love Disco, doesn’t belong.

Say what you will about Discovery as a whole, the Klingon redesign was awful and unnecessary. Granted, I was also not a fan of the first Klingon redesign.

I’ll go to bat for it. The existing Klingon makeup was initially pretty fearsome, but had become too friendly and familiar to the fans. We’d watched Worf get beat up 100 times, get married, and fret over a pimple, and we’d seen too many jolly Klingon blood wine parties. It wouldn’t have been effective for Discovery’s story of a truly alien warrior race re-emerging after 100 years and going straight for Starfleet’s jugular. A dramatic redesign was the best most effective way to put us in the characters’ headspace for the Klingon war arc. And they’d already been reworked in the past, so why not again?

(I appreciate that you oppose each redesign, though! Rarely see that consistency.)

Profit and lace: gender exploration as a comedy, instead reads as rampantly misogynistic, homophobic and transphobic. On the list.
