I think it’s because it fades into the foreground at the top and bottom instead of having a cutoff point, so if you look at those regions, you see something that doesn’t line up, and your eyes drift back to where things usually line up, which is wrong for an autostereogram.
That’s got to be one of the toughest to maintain magic eyes I’ve seen yet.
