    There are legitimate reasons to keep a background task around, like SyncThing. There are illegitimate reasons too, like Discord.

        Steam with its memory-hogging chromium instance that still runs when the window is ”closed”.

        I’m good with steam running in the background for updates and whatnot but discord needs to quit their shit when I close it.

            I have like 3 dozen games installed so there are updates frequently enough that I am good with it doing its thing.

            Plus I get the little popup when a friend starts a game so we can join up.

            Pretty sure there is an option to close it for real when you close the window, so it is a choice.
