assuming “age” means years since birth and “numbers” means digits, op would be younger than 8
Why not 9?
1000₂ = 8₁₀ has 4 digits in base 2
111₂ = 7₁₀ has 3 digits in base 2

I read it as days, so 2.73 years. Or months, 83.33 years.
That thing where some mothers say “oh he/she’s X days/months old” for kids that are way beyond where that’s relevant.
Oh interesting take. The unit is different but still base 10. That would certainly be the more normal way to think about it…
