Btw (i’ve only watched the first one, way too long ago), is there any sideplot about the lab being a government program to create super soldiers?
it was a field trip to oscorp if iirc.

The trauma follows you.
I left the US years ago and people still look at me like I’m insane when I catch a cold and I don’t go to the doctor.
I drove 40 minutes to the hospital once after an injury, and people thought I was insane for not calling an ambulance.
I’ve never lived in the US.
Going to the doctor for the common cold is insane. Why waste doctors’ time on something that’ll pass on its own with a bit of rest and paracetamol? Utterly selfish.
Driving to a hospital if you’re not badly injured is also perfectly normal. Once again, why would you call an ambulance that could be helping someone in dire need, if you don’t need to?
Unless the injury is life threatening, drive yourself or have someone drive you. Not insane at all.
You go to the doctor when you have common cold to get your sick leave, so you don’t go to work and spread it. In no way is it “insane”
I absolutely hate this system. I had a young kid starting kindergarten, I got infected with tree hundred variations of the common cold in the span of a year. I couldn’t take more than a single day off per month with self-reporting! The GP kept having to see me, verify I had the common cold, prescribe me with a couple of days of rest. If I wasn’t lucky and I wasn’t healed yet by then, I would also have to go back to see them. Dreadful. And they had to do it for most first time parents! Insanity. Perfect way to uselessly burn resources too… aaargh, still upset at it years later!
There’s a better way. Here in Finland it’s pretty common that you can just call/text your boss that you have a common cold and you can be on a sick leave for few days (3 days is pretty common limit) just self-diagnosing it. With longer sickness you’ll need a doctors note, but at least on my company with common cold and other minor stuff it’s taken care of either over text chat or via a call with a doctor.
Obviously if the doctor thinks the whatever you have requires more in depth examination they can schedule a meeting, but for seasonal flu and stuff like that it’s pretty rare you need to see a doctor in person at all. And of course they’ll follow the numbers, so that if you call in sick every monday or whatever the rules are more strict and examinations are done more frequently, but for vast majority a few days laying in bed with a fever isn’t any kind of issue.
In the Netherlands and Belgium employers sometimes offer what is called a “baaldag”. Basically, if you’re having an especially shit day, you can take the day off. No doctors note required.

Aw man I wish but my idiot countrymen voted the socially conservative neolibs again :(
You go for sick leave when sickness doesn’t allow you to work, not to not spread it lol. I envy you, wherever you work, that they allow that approach xD
Yay for capitalism again
No. Just no. You don’t go in so you don’t spread it. But also if you can’t work, you can’t work. But you 100 % don’t go in so you don’t spread it. Period.
I envy you your workplace. Would get in so much shit if that was my approach xD
Oh, I’m sorry to hear that. I think all workplaces should be like that.
That’s what I said.
Different medical culture, I guess. People here go over much more easily.
Good thing too. A friend of mine jammed her finger playing volleyball once and I thought she was nuts to go to the hospital, but it turned out she needed a surgical adjustment and if she hadn’t gone it would’ve wound up healing in a way that would’ve permanently affected her dexterity.
I live in Canada and I’ve gone to the emergency room for a pretty mild eyelid infection before because I wanted to be sure it wasn’t cellulitis and couldn’t get in at the walk in clinic because I work nights and you have to go really early in the morning (appointments at my family doctor typically take like 2-3 weeks at least). It’s nuts, what the US has going on (with regards to more than just healthcare but ce n’est pas le place)
Even non-life-threatening injuries can impair your driving and cause worse on the way to the hospital.
Just call an ambulance and explain the injury, they can evaluate if and how much you should be prioritised over others/ not.

Mandatory sick notes in my country, hate it.
That’s why I said you could have someone drive you.
And mandatory sick notes are stupid.
Plenty of places you don’t need a sick note for a day off.
Found the countryside kid.
The shocked ones are probably city people.
My family doesn’t suffer from healthcare anxiety, which in this shithole country means we must be wealthy.
I’d do the same honestly
Until it ulcerates, you’re all good
