I do not understand the mathematics behind the dilemma. I’m assuming only the firts chicks cost money, because down the line they will breed.
But feeding them, housing them - vitamins and doctoring costs a lot of money.

So anyone with couple or more chickens - how much does it cost to have them on the table? And realistically how many eggs do you get?

      That’s a crazy high number, i don’t know if it’s that high. Volume really reduces cost, but that whole “chicken in every pot” thing was a promise. The US highly subsidizes like feed and shit making bulk production super cheap.

      But the volume producers like Tyson are also growing chickens under truly horrifying conditions. Basically if they can make a breathing body fat enough to kill and strip of its disgusting feathers, that’s fine. Even if a third of them die or have to be culled because they’re covered in chemical burns from the ammonia of living in a layer of their own filth.
