In Star Trek they have society shaping technology, in Stargåte they have rifles. That go pew pew. Not exactly the same thing.

Tell that to the Goa’uld system lords. Or the replicators.

Oh, wait, you can’t, the fifth race went pew pew and shaped their societies out of existence.

Only because those societies were trying to shape everyone else out of existence

The fifth race didn’t have a problem with the Paradox of Tolerance.

And in Star Trek they would definitely intervene in the Goa’uld Empire situation, as they did in https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/The_Return_of_the_Archons_(episode), https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/The_Apple_(episode), or any other of the thousands of situations where the captain of the Enterprise decided to punch a god in the mouth.

But not so much in Justice, and in that one Picardy was like “nah, the prime directive doesn’t apply to killing the son of my side piece”

Later on they got advanced technology that could be considered society shaping though

Stargate is also about a conflict with a much more advanced society that has interstellar travel and uses it to oppress as many worlds as possible. The cat is out of the bag a far as any concern about interfering goes. Also, humans are the less advanced civilization here, and a lot of the time they’re arming other humans.

The strangest thing is that special ops officer wasn’t passing out old Soviet arms and camo pants like lollipops and make a human fighter resistance.

/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally “othering” of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That’s okay! Just don’t let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. Use spoiler tags in comments, and NSFW checkbox for posts.
This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it’s free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not ‘inspire jamaharon’

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community’s expectations.

Fun will now commence.
