I dont disagree with your wanting to see accountability and you make a good point about normalizing it. But as cops know and exploit, the idea of acting in the interest of justice and going through the motions puts people at ease and in line with letting it play out. So its useful.
It’s not outrageous. It’s what The Constitution dictates for High Treason and Sedition. Which I argue the Republicans are guilty of and then some.
Republicans deserving execution should be the default position at this point, we should normalize it.
