Run a server at home with a big GPU, set up a VPN to get remote access, get access to high quality self-hosted models regardless of how much RAM your phone has

Also I need lots of storage (at minimum 256GB) because my phone is an offline backup of my photos, music, English Wikipedia, movies, etc

Phones are like the worst place to back everything up. When shit goes tits up, you have to read data straight off the chip rather than a removable drive.

The Fairphone, however, has a MicroSDXC slot, so even if you get a 5 with less storage than the 6, you can just buy a microsd card, it supports up to 2TB I believe. As a bonus if your phone dies, you’ll still have access to your data unless it somehow manages to take the microsd card with it.

i do have a microSD card, it’s broken and I’ve needed to retransfer over the data 4 times, whilst my internal storage has never failed (on my current Motorola g73 phone)

My phone isn’t my only backup, but I can’t carry my server and laptop with me everywhere, and multiple times it’s been useful to have a local backup of various kinds of data

I do still store some data on my microSD card, but it is really annoying having to transfer it back again every time it breaks and it means I can’t store anything I always need to have on it
