20 , been doing intraday trading for a few months now. Something I’ve noticed about myself — when I take a loss, I skip meals, stop talking to people, basically shut down for the rest of the day. Tried a few things to snap out of it but nothing sticks long term.
Sometimes I think I should just enjoy life more, but honestly I don’t even know what that looks like for me anymore. Also catch myself comparing my progress to others way too much, which doesn’t help.
I’m 20, trying to build something real and make good money, but I don’t want to burn out or lose myself in the process. For those of you who’ve been trading (or just grinding at something) for longer — how do you separate your mood from your results? What actually worked for you?
Would genuinely appreciate any advice.
It is normal, or at least everyone I knew in my twenties experienced something similar.
Hopefully, with more experience, and the hard realization that you won’t live forever, you’ll give up your pursuit of money, and stop comparing yourself to others. These can be hard lessons to learn, and some people never do. You know intellectually that you won’t live forever, but you don’t feel it in your bones, yet.
We can tell you over and over that money doesn’t buy love or happiness, but you won’t believe it until you do. It doesn’t help that you can find articles telling you that money does indeed buy some amount of happiness, but that’s not true. It can buy security, but you don’t need millions to have security. And, money can not buy love--in fact the more money you have, the more people will hate you.
Frankly, you’re trying to build the wrong things.
