VOY s7e6 “Inside Man”
One of the guys in the field didn’t know I was gone. Not unexpected, but I set 'em straight. Now, back to lazing about with drink in hand.
My team used to be pretty single threaded – only one who knew how to support a given application/service/whatever. Some of which are critical to have running and are used 24/7. Which made this very thing a real problem.
Things are better now though. We’ve been cross training, so even if the subject matter expert has time off, there is likely someone else who can handle most things.
Good to hear. Spreading the wealth of knowledge has helped on my end as well. Initially felt like I was losing a bit of job security, but that’s not the case and it’s taken away some of the added stress.

Why were you accessible? Unless it’s family, I am not answering on vacation and even that is iffy.
Some of the crew have my personal number. It was best to answer if only to tell them not to try the rest of my time away.
