To add to that: Some years ago, “remixing” installation/ive isos was kinda popular (changing defaults, installing software etc.). The first step was to bring the system up to date. After that, the actual installation process only downloaded small, incremental changes (depending on how long you waited).
That’s still rule of thumb on Windows. Push the updates into the install media in advance and save the trouble later. Guess since Linux updates tend to be easier they just stopped?
